The islands that neua lions live on used to be part of Africa. They broke off millions of years ago and have since been forgotten by history, untouched by mankind. It's strange, indeed, that these large islands have escaped the influence of humans, but perhaps this has to do with the protection of the Greek gods. Never the less, these islands have thrived for many centuries without human intervention and will continue to do so for many more. There is one mainland surrounded by several islands, some of which have names and some of which do not. Most of these islands are very habitable.
The mainland is a large island with nearly every sort of biome known. The center is made up of a jungle that spans up into the mountains that lie in the north east part of the island. The only way to enter the mountains from the east is through the jungle, due to the large tar pits surrounding the mountains on the grasslands. To the west of the jungle is a vast desert, in the middle of which is a small plain with a watering hole (this watering hole is sometimes referred to as a honey trap to those passing through the desert). One of the rivers in the jungle goes across the desert, but this river dries up somewhat frequently. The only way a lion can cross this desert is to follow the river, or to have help from the gods. Surrounding the jungle and desert is mostly plains and grasslands. However, beaches and cliffs are scattered across the coast of the island and cold tundras reside in the south west and north. The southern tundra frequently has a frozen watering hole, but the rivers in these areas don't generally freeze due to their fast pace. These tundras can go through spells of warmth where it just feels a bit nippy. The northern tundra seems to be much less cold than the southern one. Tar pits are scattered in the mountains and near the Great Lake in the west.
WIP.
Notes:
-waterholes/rivers everywhere
-a lot of African wildlife or wildlife similar
-developed own little climates and wildlife
